A special week honoring pro bono service -- the National Pro Bono Celebration boasts thousands of special events nationwide. In Northeast Ohio, the celebration includes Legal Aid, numerous bar associations, the judiciary, community based organizations and volunteer attorneys.
In Northeast Ohio, the celebration calendar will include numerous clinics and presentations not just during Pro Bono Week, but all of October - including:
- Pro bono (volunteer) opportunities at free legal clinics in Northeast Ohio neighborhoods - including at the VA Community Referral and Resource Center, Oberlin Community Services, Catholic Charities Ashtabula, The Nord Center, Cleveland Library's Fleet Branch, Fairhill Partners, Lorain's El Centro, Boys and Girls Club, Cleveland's Main Library, and Cleveland Library's Carnegie West Branch.
- A reception to recognize and recruit late-career and retired attorneys for Legal Aid's ACT 2 Program.
- A special event hosted by St. Vincent Charity Medical Center about how attorneys can get involved with Legal Aid's medical-legal partnership.
- Continuing Legal Education programs focused on criminalization of homelessness, domestic violence community impact and working with survivors, BMV reinstatement fee amnesty, legislative-executive-judicial power balance in the modern era, nonprofit law and finance, updates on Social Security and SSI, and practice updates for attorneys in Ashtabula, Lake and Geauga counties.
