Josh Rovenger, Esq., Senior Attorney at The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, spoke today on a national panel called "Addressing the Flaws of the Current Student Loan Collection System" - Part 1 of 3 in the "Beyond Fresh Start" series organized by the Student Borrower Protection Center.
The virtual panel series on debt collection features three conversations with leading scholars, practitioners, and advocates, moderated by leading journalists covering student loan issues.
As a Senior Attorney with Legal Aid’s Economic Justice Practice Group, Josh handles cases concerning consumer issues, debt collection, unemployment compensation, and student loan discharge. He also works to educate student borrowers about their options, such as with this recent op-ed he penned on the topic of student loan cancellation.
An expert in his field, prior to joining Legal Aid, Josh served as an attorney at the Project on Predatory Student Lending, an organization housed at the Harvard Legal Services Center. And in 2021, he was appointed to serve as an alternate negotiator on the United States Department of Education’s Affordability and Student Loans Negotiated Rulemaking Committee.
Josh received his JD from Harvard Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and philosophy from The George Washington University.
