Changes to Medicaid and disability determination scheduled for August 1, 2016. The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is preparing to change the program’s disability determination process.  Later this year, the program will implement a unified disability determination process so that people who qualify for Supplement Security Income (SSI) will automatically qualify for Medicaid.  As part of this change, the current practice of allowing individuals with income above eligibility thresholds to use medical bills to “spend down” to achieve Medicaid eligibility will no longer exist.

Cuyahoga Jobs and Family Services (CJFS) will be hosting community forums about the changes.  The next forum will be held on Friday, June 10th, from 9:30am – 12:30pm, at the Global Center for Health Innovation on St. Clair Avenue NE.  Click here for a printable flyer with more information.
