Shaker Heights has long held diversity and inclusion among its major community values.
What does this mean for renters and owners, among neighbors of different economic classes, races and age groups?
Join us for a panel conversation about the current picture of low-income rental housing in Shaker, including subsidized housing. We'll address the rights and responsibilities of both landlords and tenants in our community.
This program is part of a series of conversations, held at local libraries throughout Cuyahoga County this winter, engaging in the issues raised by Matthew Desmond in his groundbreaking, Pulitzer-prizewinning book Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City.
Panelists:
- Judge K.J. Montgomery, Shaker Heights Municipal Court
- Maria Smith, Supervising Attorney, Legal Aid Society of Cleveland
- Lisa Gold-Scott, Assistant Director and Housing Attorney, City of Shaker Heights
- Carrie Pleasant, Executive Director, Housing Research & Advocacy Center
The panel will be moderated by Amy Hanauer, Executive Director, Policy Matters
