Legal Aid conducts a brief advice clinic for low income residents of Ashtabula County at Catholic Charities located at 4200 Park Avenue in Ashtabula on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 2-4 pm. Attorneys who sign-up for at least one clinic in 2017 may attend this CLE for FREE. SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES
- Dennis Dobos, Esq. joined the staff of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland in 2000 and has directed its Low Income Taxpayer Clinic since December of 2013. He formerly was a member of the Consumer Law Practice Group and the Housing Law Practice Group where he developed an expertise in the areas of litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Dobos previously worked at Ashtabula County Legal Aid and in private practice. He lectured for many years at the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University and more recently at numerous local and regional conferences and trainings. Mr. Dobos, while working in the Consumer Law Practice Group, was responsible for the Arbitration chapter in Ohio Consumer Law (West Publishing). Mr. Dobos received his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and holds master?ʉ??s degrees in educational administration and business administration.
- Susan Morgenstern, Esq. is the Local Taxpayer Advocate in Cleveland, a position she has held since December 2013. Previously, Ms. Morgenstern was Senior Attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland where she started her legal career in 1986. Ms. Morgenstern founded and directed the low income taxpayer clinic at Legal Aid in 2001, which the first in Ohio and one of the first nationwide. Ms. Morgenstern has taught extensively at national, regional, and local professional events. She has commented frequently on proposed regulations, has written on proposed and active IRS practices and procedures, and is vice chair of the American Bar Association Section on Taxation?ʉ??s Pro Bono and Tax Clinics?ʉ?? Committee.
- Mary Beth McConville, Esq. is a Senior Attorney in The Volunteer Lawyers Program at The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. In addition to general VLP involvement, Ms. McConville oversees the Foreclosure Project, the Low Income Tax Clinic and the Pro Se Plus Divorce Clinic. Prior to joining Legal Aid, Ms. McConville was in private practice. She earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
