Presenters include:

Julie C. Cortes has a deep love and commitment to Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. She has lived in Cleveland since she was five years old and considers herself a native Clevelander even though it is not her birthplace. She pursued her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Cleveland State University (CSU), and she returned to CSU's Cleveland Marshall College of Law after several years of work to pursue her law degree. Ms. Cortes has devoted her career to addressing the legal issues faced by Cleveland's low-wage workers as a Senior Attorney with The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland and provides direct representation to clients facing wage theft, barriers to employment, and the need for unemployment compensation. She is also working on a project to support the needs of low-income and neighborhood based entrepreneurs as a fellow with the Sisters of Charity Innovation Mission Fellowship. In 2016, Ms. Cortes researched and authored Clearing the Path: Using Legal Interventions to Eliminate Barriers on the Road to Employment and has co-chaired the statewide Employment Law Task Force for Ohio's legal aid organizations since 2009. In 2014, Ms. Cortes received The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland Claude E. Clarke award for outstanding service through professional performance and commitment to Legal Aid and its clients. She is currently a member of the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, Cleveland Employment Lawyers Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Cleveland Employment Inn of Court.

Lauren Gilbride is the Supervising Attorney of Intake and the Volunteer Lawyers Program at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Her department processes all individuals seeking assistance from Legal Aid and provides advice to many clients. In addition, she works with volunteer attorneys throughout Legal Aid's five county area to help serve clients. She developed and manages several pro bono projects including the Expungement Project. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and received her B.A. from the University of Michigan.
