Pardon the dust – Legal Aid's Ashtabula County office undergoing renovations

In order to better serve the community, The Legal Aid Society is extending justice and growing impact in Ashtabula County. To help support the expanding work, Legal Aid is excited to announce a major renovation of its office at 121 East Walnut Street in Jefferson.

As of June 2024, the Walnut Street location will be temporarily unavailable. While Legal Aid’s permanent office is completely renovated, Legal Aid staff will meet with clients in an interim office space located at 34 S. Chestnut Street, Jefferson, OH 44047.

Construction is expected to last a few months, and Legal Aid plans to reopen the renovated Walnut Street office by late summer. Once reopened, the office will be more accessible to community members and have additional space to accommodate more Legal Aid staff and volunteers assisting Ashtabula County residents with civil legal issues.

Legal Aid is committed to maintaining excellent service during this time. Those in need of legal assistance can apply by phone at 888-817-3777 or online at lasclev.org/apply. Applicants can also visit the temporary office on Chestnut Street in-person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A full list of upcoming legal clinics hosted in partnership with local community partners, such as the Ashtabula Public Library and Catholic Charities, is available on Legal Aid’s website at lasclev.org/events

Community partners are encouraged to contact Abigail Staudt, Managing Attorney of Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake counties with any questions (Abigail.Staudt@lasclev.org).
