Lauren Gilbride, Managing Attorney for Legal Aid’s Intake Group and Volunteer Lawyers Program, has been appointed to join the Board of Directors for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA).
As Managing Attorney of the Intake Group, Lauren and her staff work together to ensure that they are accessible to people who need help with their civil issues. Through her work with the Volunteer Lawyers Program, Lauren helps to educate the private bar about the issues that Legal Aid clients are facing and how they can help. This includes meeting with different groups to recruit volunteers, attending events where attorneys are participating in volunteer activities, planning CLE's and other trainings, and creating new ways to engage volunteers while at the same time ensuring that clients are receiving high quality services from volunteers. Because of her efforts, the Volunteer Lawyers Program includes attorneys from law firms, corporate counsel offices, government entities as well as retired attorneys, law students, paralegals and others.
Lauren has been active with CMBA since she was a law student at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), attending a number of CMBA sponsored events. After law school, Lauren served on the The Young Lawyers Section and on the Justice for All Committee as a representative of Legal Aid. In the latter role, Lauren focused on Legal Aid’s pro bono work and how private attorneys can give their time and talent to help those facing civil legal issues.
Lauren first started working with Legal Aid as a summer associate in the Volunteer Lawyers Program. She started her legal career with Legal Aid and is approaching 16 years with the organization. Prior to receiving her law degree from CWRU, Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan.
