Many area residents who are depending on SNAP can expect to see increased benefits this month.
The USDA announced that the permanent increase in SNAP benefits is based on factors such as income, expenses, and household size. Most families will receive a monthly increase ranging from $12 to $16 per person.
Due to temporary COVID-19 Snap Emergency Allotments, all families receiving SNAP are getting the maximum amount in benefits. These additional benefits will no longer be available when state or federal public health emergency periods end. Families who will be affected will be contacted by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
