Rita Maimbourg, a partner with Tucker Ellis LLP who defends hospital systems, physicians, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in professional liability actions and other matters, has been elected president of the board of directors for The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.

The longtime Cleveland Legal Aid board member — and 2009 Crain's Woman of Note — follows previous board president Mike Ungar of Ulmer & Berne LLP in the role.

"I'm honored to serve as president of Legal Aid's Board of Directors and to support its mission of pursuing justice for the most vulnerable members of our community," said Maimbourg in a statement issued by her law firm.

In the announcement, it's noted Maimbourg is particularly interested in the results of Legal Aid's 2021 Community Needs Assessment, conducted by The Center for Community Solutions.

"Since we know that there are unmet legal needs in the population we serve, I am looking forward to hearing the results … so that we can re-adjust our strategic plan if necessary to make the biggest impact on the community," she added.

Tucker Ellis is the fourth-largest law firm in Northeast Ohio, according to Crain's research.
