Legal Aid’s annual fundraising event Jam for Justice will go virtual this month with four live stream concerts -- all of which will feature local legal professionals rocking out onstage.
The event, in its 12th year, puts together a lineup of bands that feature law students, judges and attorneys in their makeups. Typically, Jam for Justice takes place at the House of Blues.
This year, Jam for Justice will be filmed at the House of Blues and presented as a live stream that will be available to view on Legal Aid’s Facebook page and website at 7:30 p.m. on four dates: Sept. 17, 22, 24 and 29.
The 2020 lineup includes Faith & Whiskey, First Offenders, Razing the Bar, Out of Order, The No Name Band and plenty more. Performers include Ohio Supreme Court Justice Michael Donnelly, who plays in Faith & Whiskey and Case Western Reserve University law school dean Michael Scharf, who plays in Razing the Bar.
The event will also host a 50-50 raffle and sell VIP stay-at-home tickets, which include a gift box.
Though all the virtual shows are free to view, donations are encouraged for Legal Aid, a nonprofit organization that provides free attorneys to people who face legal issues. According to a Legal Aid press release, this year community requests for Legal Aid assistance have increased 39% for housing help and 22% for employment help, compared to requests made in 2019.
