HEY MUSIC BUFFS - what do rockers Michael Stanley, Nate Jones, Donnie Iris and The Cruisers, and classical pianist Angelin Chang have in common? They all collaborated on an album to benefit The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.
Cleveland is in the spotlight this month because of the Cavaliers run in the NBA finals, but the city on Lake Erie offers more than just basketball – it’s the home of Rock ‘n Roll. It’s also to home to a great legal community – and one of the oldest and most well-known Legal Aid programs in the US.
Through the JAM FOR JUSTICE 2015 album released on June 18, 2015 - the worlds of sports, entertainment and law converge. Law students in the Great Lakes Sports and Entertainment Law Academy – under the supervision of attorneys – produced a compilation album the full proceeds of which benefit Legal Aid.
The June 18 release of the album will occurs at the Jam for Justice 2015 fundraiser for Legal Aid, hosted at the House of Blues Cleveland. At the unique fundraiser, seven bands of attorneys and judges perform. Three of the bands performing have tracks on the JAM FOR JUSTICE album.

The Great Lakes Sports and Entertainment Academy students, led by attorney and professor Mark Avsec from Benesch, secured artist agreements and produced this one-of-a-kind album. Law student Jon Strano said, "This was an amazing experience - I was able to gain real-life entertainment law experience while also helping Legal Aid."
The album will sell for $10 at the June 18 Jam for Justice fundraiser. All proceeds benefit the 110-year-old Cleveland Legal Aid program. Founded in 1905, Legal Aid is the law-firm for low-income individuals focused on ensuring safety, shelter and economic security. Its 40 full-time attorneys and more than 2000 volunteers lawyers use the power of the law to ensure access to basic needs and lift people out of poverty. Last year, more than 20,000 people were assisted by Legal Aid.
