Lakewood resident Thomas Dresing is a man of many talents. The Northeast Ohio native is a Staff Cardiologist and the Fellowship Director in the Section of Electrophysiology and Pacing at Cleveland Clinic. He specializes in cardiac electrophysiology, catheter ablation therapy and cardiac device therapy – and that’s just his day job! By night, he is a rocker – playing with the band, “Just Us,” led by Judge Jim Miraldi of Lorain County. The band, a play on the word “Justice,” is made up of mainly attorneys who moonlight as rock stars. Dr. Dresing’s presence in the band proves that doctors and lawyers actually enjoy each others company!
“Just Us” is practicing now for its most important gig of the year – “Jam for Justice,” an event that benefits The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.
Legal Aid provides services that focus on improving clients’ safety, shelter and economic security. Legal Aid’s clients are low-income people who are confronted with a legal problem that – if left unresolved – will result in loss of housing, education, income, food, safety or family stability. The problems they face are life problems that have a legal resolution. These clients have legal rights, but, without an attorney, those rights will not be enforced. Legal Aid works to make sure that the powerless get a fair shake. Legal Aid uses the power of the law to help those who are poor and vulnerable.
Legal Aid represents clients in civil legal matters, provides education to the community and advocates on systemic issues of poverty. Founded in 1905, Legal Aid employs 40 attorneys, 25 other staff and engages more than 1,500 volunteer lawyers. Each year, they help 22,000 people.
The “Jam for Justice” benefit will be held on June 11 at House of Blues and feature Dr. Dresing’s band – “Just Us” along with five other local bands led by attorneys and judges.

Tickets are $50, and patrons who attend will enjoy food, drinks and the music of great local bands. And, the ticket sales support Legal Aid – so those attending will be part of Legal Aid’s mission to ensure justice for all.
