2017 National Consumer Protection Week

Legal Aid is participating in this special week-long campaign that encourages consumers nationwide to take full advantage of their consumer rights and make better-informed decisions.

In addition to Legal Aid, several local, state and federal agencies that offer consumer advice and assistance are participating in local events during National Consumer Protection Week ?ʉ??? March 6th??through March 10th, with a special consumer-focused legal clinic on March 11.

For this special week, Legal Aid is proud to partner with the??Cleveland Consumer Action Network (CCAN) to provide free information and resources to the public in the Cleveland, Ohio. ??CCAN is a group of federal, state, and local agencies, community organizations, and advocates that focuses on important consumer issues and provides useful consumer resources and outreach opportunities.

Free events are planned throughout the week to serve the public:

Tuesday, March 7, 6:00 PM ?ʉ??? 7:30 PM

What: Channel 3 Consumer Phone Bank

Where: ??Call the station during the nightly news for the Consumer Phone Bank

Hosted by Channel 3.?? Consumers can call to get answers to their consumer-related questions or referrals to useful resources.?? CCAN members from FTC, BBB, OH AG, Legal Aid, HUD, Apprisen, and OCC with expertise in consumer protection issues will answer calls.

What: ??Consumer Brief Advice Clinic

Where: ??Cleveland Public Library, Rice Branch, 115535 Shaker Blvd., Cleveland

Hosted by the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, U.S. Attorney?ʉ??s Office, and FTC.?? Attorneys will be available in-person to listen to consumer-related and other civil issues and will then offer brief advice or referrals to useful resources.?? Consumers will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.?? Attorneys cannot give advice on criminal issues.
