Diane C. James Esq., previously Human Resources Manager at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, recently assumed a new leadership role as the Director of Diversity, People and Culture. This new position is a result of organizational growth and restructuring to better meet the needs of the organization and align with recognized best practices.
Diane is focused on strategic thinking, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and ensuring HR practices are deeply rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Prior to joining Legal Aid, Diane enjoyed a 20+ year career in human resources within the banking industry where she gained a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience. Diane initially joined Legal Aid as a Law Graduate in 2022. Upon passing the State of Ohio Bar Examination, she became a practicing attorney in Legal Aid's Economic Justice Group, where she specialized in bankruptcy law. Diane’s desire to reignite her passion for human resources made her the ideal candidate to spearhead HR operations at Legal Aid when the opportunity arose.
Diane earned a Juris Doctorate from Cleveland State University College of Law, a Master of Business Administration from the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State University, and an undergraduate degree in Human Resources Development from Notre Dame College of Ohio. In addition, she is HRCI Certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and holds a HR Management Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion.
