Yesterday was the 118th Annual Meeting of Cleveland's Legal Aid Society. An event that has become a must go to, for many reasons. First and foremost is that Legal Aid and the Observer newspaper have formed a bond, with them helping to get legal news and information out to the masses. It is also an organization among many that we support each year. This year is no different.

It was a packed house at the Hilton downtown, that saw a bevy of Legal Aid members, volunteers, directors and others get their awards and call outs for the tremendous work they do in all of our communities. They both highlight interesting cases and talk about some of the things now on their plate, as legal needs shift year to year.

Winner of this year's Louis Stoke Paragon Award was Vanetta Jameson. who has been with Legal Aid since 2004.

Winner of the C. Lyonel Jones Lifetime Award was Penny Gooden who joined Legal Aid in the late 1970s!

The Leadership Award went to David Johnson.

The Claude E. Clarke Award went to: Tammy Adams, David King, Emily Murphy, Krystle Rivera, and Michael Russell.

Many Lakewoodites were in attendance including Kate Ingersoll of Healthy Lakewood, Tom Wagner, and Tom Corrigan, Lakewood's old asst Law Director.

A wonderful time was had by all.

If you are looking for a way to help people, Legal Aid is a great way to do it. One of the biggest problems many face is quality legal help if they do not have the funds or the connections. Legal Aid is a great first stop for all with legal questions and/or need help.

To donate go to: lasclev.org/2023match and give. All donations from this link will be matched with a $50,000 fund collected just for this event.

Thank you to all at Legal Aid, you make the world better.
