Managing Attorney Ann McGowan Porath joined Legal Aid in 1982 and has dedicated her career to pursuing Legal Aid’s mission of providing high quality legal services to low income individuals.  Since 2005, she has been the anchor and visionary for a revitalized Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP) that has increased Legal Aid’s capacity to serve, bolstered its pro bono support, and heightened its standing in the community.  She has also managed the centralized intake system at Legal Aid, ensuring that clients are treated with respect from their first encounter with Legal Aid, that staff gather information to make informed decisions about accepting cases, and that clients receive the advice they need.  Her professionalism, creativity, and leadership have promoted the mission of Legal Aid and strengthened the resolve of all those she has engaged.
