Legal Aid launches “Debt Clinics”

Legal Aid may be able to help!

Cleveland Legal Aid now has monthly debt collection clinics at its downtown Cleveland office to help individuals who have been sued by a debt collector on a variety of types of consumer debt.

In cases where a judgment has not yet been entered, eligible individuals can speak with a lawyer about what documents need to be filed with the Court, strategies for responding to the lawsuit, and how to force the debt collector to prove its case.

Litigants assisted through the clinic will still have to represent themselves in court, but can return to the clinic for additional help if necessary as the case proceeds.
