Experienced child support officers from the Child Support Enforcement Agency will provide a detailed account of the basics of child support establishment, and a detailed understanding of the Reduction of Permanently Assigned Arrears (ROPAAs). This presentation is geared towards attorneys have little experience with navigating the ROPAA process.
The training will cover the basics of establishing paternity, establishing an administrative child support order, and how the order is then enforced through the agency. The second half of the presentation will detail the definition and types of arrears, the criteria for obtaining a ROPAA, and how to complete the ROPAA process.
After the presentation, participants will be prepared to advise clients on establishing child support, how orders can be enforced, and be able to help child support obligors navigate the ROPAA process to reduce or eliminate certain types of child support arrears.
