Cleveland, Ohio -- This past month, Susan Morgenstern - an attorney at The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland - was named Vice Chair of the American Bar Association's Low Income Taxpayer Committee.
This committee seeks to address the tax liability and collection issues that impact low income taxpayers. They also seek to address issues facing attorneys working as clinicians and volunteers who represent low income taxpayers. To accomplish the goals of assisting low income taxpayers and their representatives, the committee sponsors programs that both educate the low income taxpayer representatives and public officials on issues impacting low income tax payers, including the impact of Internal Revenue Service and Department of Treasury guidance.
Ms. Morgenstern is an attorney in Legal Aid's work and income practice -- and focuses on tax law. She leads the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at Legal Aid.
