Legal Aid statement on new Catholic Diocese policy

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland condemns the new Catholic Diocese of Cleveland’s school and parish policy recently issued, denying the basic civil rights and inclusion of the LGBTQ+ Community.

Legal Aid remains steadfast in its commitment to advocate for the rights of all.  Our organizational values require us to pursue equity, treat everyone with respect, inclusion, and dignity, prioritize our clients and communities, and work in solidarity.

We disavow any discriminatory policy which does not allow every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, to experience dignity and receive equal treatment.
