ASHTABULA — More and more local officials are asking what the 2-1-1 hotline can do for their agencies and those they serve, an Ashtabula County Community Action representative said Wednesday.
To answer these questions and more, an upcoming informational presentation, “Keys to Community,” will bring local agencies together to learn about the county's 2-1-1 information and referral program and to facilitate the spread of information on local community resources. The free presentation will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 26 in the Blue and Gold Room at Kent State University at Ashtabula.
"During the first presentation, from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., attendees will learn about our 2-1-1 Ashtabula County information and referral service and how it can benefit their agency and clients," said Alissa Holdson, program services coordinator for the county's Community Action Agency. "Topics will include a national look at 2-1-1, as well as an in-depth look at our own 2-1-1 program here in Ashtabula County, such as top referrals, what to expect when calling and outreach initiatives."
Part two of the program, from 10:15 a.m. to 11: 30 a.m., will deal with information sharing.
"Attendees can hear directly from featured guests about their programs," Holdson said. "This quarter we are pleased to present the following featured guest speakers: The Legal Aid Society of Greater Cleveland, Community Action’s Action in Motion Truck Driving Academy and the 2020 Decennial Census and what we are doing locally to prepare for it."
Holdson said people can come for one or both parts of the presentation.
"No worries, attend what you can," she said.
