Residents of Perry and Fairground United filed a lawsuit against the owners and operators of two well-populated mobile home parks in Lake County. The group is open to all residents and includes the predominantly Mexican-American families who live at the trailer parks. The complaint alleges that Jones Estates Fairgrounds, LLC, and Jones Estates Perry, LLC., willfully violated Ohio state law by taking advantage of residents in a variety of ways, including refusing to provide them with lease agreements; charging unlawful amounts for utilities; failing to maintain the common areas; and harassing Mexican park residents. The complaint also alleges 5 Star Metering, together with the park operators, are culpable for excessive water charges. The resident group is represented by attorneys at Legal Aid and works closely with HOLA Ohio.
"For the past two years, HOLA has received increasingly frequent requests for assistance from residents at the Perry and Fairgrounds mobile home parks who were grappling with exorbitant utility bills, rent increases, and unsafe living conditions," says Veronica Isabel Dahlberg, Executive Director of HOLA Ohio. "The majority of the residents are farmworkers. Their families and children have lived in these homes for many years, and they no longer feel safe and secure in their own homes. We are grateful for our partnership with Legal Aid attorneys who bring their knowledge and expertise and have been an important resource for the residents."

Los residentes de los recintos de Perry y Fairground United presentaron una demanda contra los propietarios y operadores de dos recintos de casas móviles bien poblados en el Condado de Lake. El grupo está abierto a todos los residentes e incluye a las familias predominantemente mexicano-estadounidenses que viven en los parques de casas móviles. La demanda alega que Jones Estates Fairgrounds, LLC y Jones Estates Perry, LLC, violaron deliberadamente la ley estatal de Ohio al aprovecharse de los residentes de diversas maneras, incluida la negativa a proporcionarles contratos de arrendamiento; cobrar cantidades ilícitas por servicios públicos; no mantener las áreas comunes; y acosar a los residentes mexicanos del parque.
