Jonathan Leiken, board president emeritus of The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, has been selected as an inductee to the Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2024. Jon, a 1990 graduate of Shaker Schools, served on the Legal Aid Board since 2018, becoming Board President in 2023. Jon currently serves as a director of the board as president emeritus. Jon has been a volunteer with Legal Aid for over 20 years.
As president, Jon’s duties included working with the Legal Aid management team to help offer direction, leading board meetings to discuss business within the organization and conducting the affairs of the board. This included assisting with the launch of Legal Aid’s new strategic plan in 2023.
Jon is currently the Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Dollar Tree Stores. Jon formerly served as President for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
After graduating from Shaker, Jon earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Brandeis University.
Jon and the other inductees will be honored at a student assembly on September 13 followed by a dinner and induction ceremony on September 14 at the Shaker Heights Country Club at 6pm. The dinner and induction ceremony is open to the public, but tickets must be purchased prior to the ceremony. Since 1986, more than 300 Shaker Heights school alumni have been inducted.
