Jennifer Kinsley Smith Assumes New Leadership Role in Lorain County

Jennifer Kinsley Smith, Esq., previously a Supervising Attorney in Legal Aid’s Health & Opportunity Practice Group, recently transitioned to the role of Managing Attorney for Lorain County.  

In this new role, Jenn will work to increase Legal Aid’s partnerships with community partners, courts, and bar associations in Lorain County while also continuing her work with the Health & Opportunity Practice Group.  

Jenn joined Legal Aid in 2018 as a Staff Attorney focused on our Medical Legal Partnership with Saint Vincent Charity Hospital. Her work centered on helping clients living with mental health and substance use disorder diagnoses. She developed expertise in helping clients to secure, restore, or maintain public benefits, and she is accredited by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs to assist with veteran’s benefit claims. Before coming to Legal Aid, Jenn was an Assistant Prosecutor with the City of Cleveland.   

Jenn is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. She currently serves on the Boards of Magnolia Clubhouse and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Lorain County and is a member of the Steering Committee of the CMBA Cleveland Legal Collaborative. Jenn has been a presenter at the Midwest Medical Legal Partnership Conference, the ADAMHS Board Roads to Recovery Conference, and the National Medical Legal Partnership Summit.  

Jenn earned her JD and bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University and is member of Ohio Northern's Claude W. Pettit College of Law Advisory Board.   

Legal Aid is excited to have Jenn’s leadership to cultivate new relationships and deepen existing networks with community partners in Lorain County.
