The Nord Family Foundation awarded $3,719,551 at its June 2023 trustees meeting, according to a news release.
The Nord Family Foundation announced the list of nonprofit organizations in the fields of arts and culture, civic affairs, education, and health and social services that have been awarded grants this cycle, the release said. (Read the full release on The Nord Family Foundation's website).
The following grants were approved:
Arts and Culture
• Elyria Arts Council, $12,000 for general operating support
• Great Lakes Theater Festival Inc. Cleveland, $20,000 for continued support of theater education programming in Lorain County
• Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra Inc. in Oberlin, $44,000 for continued general operating support
• Oberlin Choristers, $44,000 for continued general operating support
• Spark Theatre Company Inc. in Elyria, $15,000 for general operating support
• The MAD Factory in Oberlin, for $55,000 for continued general operating support
Civic affairs
• Elyria Municipal Court, $66,000 for support of the Elyria Municipal Recovery Court
• Enlightened Solutions in Cleveland, $20,000 for expansion and update of Project Noir in Lorain County
• Firelands Association for the Visual Arts in Oberlin, $18,000 for capital improvements and retrofitting of gallery lighting
• Lorain Municipal Court, $105,000 for continued support of the Lorain Municipal Recovery Court
• Mental Health and Addiction Advocacy Coalition in Cleveland, $50,000 for continued support for increasing access to behavioral health services in Lorain County through advocacy and research, over two years
• The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, $300,000 for continued support of legal assistance for indigent Lorain County residents, over two years
• The Nord Center in Lorain, $45,000 for strategic planning and system improvements for Lorain County crisis continuum of care
Education
• Lake Erie Nature & Science Center in Bay Village, $40,000 continued general operating support
• Midview Local Schools in Grafton, $100,000 for expanding the Micro-electromechanicalsystems (MEMS) Pathway, a strategic partnership
• Oberlin Early Childhood Center, $70,000 for continued general operating support
• Our Turn Inc. New York, $50,000 for Ohio Landscape Assessment for Youth-Driven Change in Lorain County
• Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Inc., $15,000 for onsite for Lorain County students
• Elyria City Schools, $100,000 for Pioneer Connections program
Health and social services
• City Fresh in Oberlin, $30,000, for continued support of City Fresh for low-income Lorain County residents
• Clearview Local Schools, $50,000 for continued wellness support and programming
• Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center, $35,000 for continued support for the Deaf Serving Deaf in Lorain County
• Lorain County Lutheran Presbyterian Cooperative Ministry Inc., $25,000 for continued general operating support for public charitable programs
• Lorain County Office on Aging Inc. in Elyria, $70,000 for continued general operating support
• Lorain County Public Health in Elyria, $56,000 for continued support of the Prescription Assistance Program
• Lorain County Urban League Inc. in Elyria, $150,000 for continued general operating support, over two years
• Lorain Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Program Inc. in Lorain, $50,000 for continued general operating support
• Oberlin Community Services Council, $180,000 for continued general operating support, over two years
• Providence House Inc. Cleveland, $45,000 for general operating support in Lorain County
• Salvation Army – Northeast Ohio Division Cleveland, $90,000 for continued general operating support in Lorain County
• Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio in Lorain, $225,000 for continued support of increasing food resources to Lorain County
• The Road To Hope Inc. in Elyria, $90,000 for continued general operating support
• Voices for Children – Elyria, $15,000 for continued general operating support
• Youth Challenge in Westlake, $30,000 for continued support for adapted programs for young people with disabilities from Lorain County, over two years
