The North Coast Nurses Coalition presented Legal Aid attorney Shelly Anarado with an "Unsung Hero" award.
The award was presented at a June 18 luncheon.
The mission of the North Coast Nurses Association is to provide health education and to advocate for equal access to healthcare services for all. The group focuses on healthcare concerns that impact minorities.
Ms. Anarado is an attorney in Legal Aid's Community Advocacy Program(CAP), a medical-legal partnership with the MetroHealth System. Through this partnership, Legal Aid attorneys work on-site at MetroHealth, working with the medical team, to resolve legal issues that are barriers to health.
