The board of trustees of Saint Luke's Foundation has approved its first cycle grants for 2013, awarding a total of $3,292,165 to nine organizations that advance the Foundation's strategic priorities focusing on Healthy People, Strong Communities and Resilient Families.

"During 2011 and 2012, the Foundation reinvented its grantmaking approach in order to provide larger and longer-duration grants that make measurable impacts while also tying grant decisions directly to mission-driven criteria and outcomes in our three strategic program areas.

These first cycle 2013 grants are reflective of that approach, as well as our commitment to improving health and well-being throughout the communities that our grantees serve," said Denise San Antonio Zeman, Saint Luke's Foundation President and CEO.

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland received the largest grant with this distribution - $1 million.

The grant of $1,000,000 will aid Legal Aid's efforts in building health and financial stability for parents through legal aid. The organization's mission is to secure justice and resolve fundamental problems for those who are low income and vulnerable by providing high-quality legal services and working for systemic solutions. Each year, The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland helps 24,000 people in Northeast Ohio through 10,000 cases, and 52 percent of its clients are families with children.
