WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met today with Colleen Cotter, Tom Mlakar, and Melanie Shakarian, representatives of The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to low-income clients in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Lorain counties. The group attended his weekly coffee with constituents during a trip to Washington D.C.

“It was an honor to meet with Colleen, Tom, and Melanie,” Brown said. “Their work helps ensure that all Ohioans have access to legal representation and a fair trial.”

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland’s three main focus areas are access to justice; economics and education; and health, shelter, and safety. The Society provides clients with advice, representation, community outreach, and education.
