Student Loan Information – Virtual Drop-in Sessions
The federal student loan payment pause will be ending this summer. To help providers facilitate borrowers’ return to repayment, Legal Aid will host virtual ‘drop-in’ sessions this summer. We invite providers to join with any questions they have related to student loans. Providers can jump in at any time during the hour to talk with one of our student loans experts, or can join for the entire time to hear others’ questions.  Register today:

Meet & Greet Events – Join us Thursdays in June
Throughout June 2023, Legal Aid will host a series of Meet & Greet Events across our service area. These community receptions are a chance to reconnect with our local partners and we’d love to see you there! Events will be held on June 8 in Geauga County, June 15 in Lorain County, and June 22 in Lake County. For more information and to RSVP: lasclev.org/2023MeetAndGreet.

Presentations & Resource Fair Participation – Invite Legal Aid!
Legal Aid provides trainings to service providers and Know Your Rights presentations to community groups on a variety of topics. If you are interested in hosting a group presentation, please send requests to outreach@lasclev.org.

If you’re hosting a Resource Fair or outreach event to share information with people who have low income and may need legal assistance, please consider inviting Legal Aid to attend. Please send an email to outreach@lasclev.org with details about your event (date, time, location, audience, etc.). We’ll do our best to attend, or we can send brochures and materials to distribute. For presentations and outreach events, please provide as much advance notice as possible.

Juneteenth is Monday, June 19. In honor of the holiday, Thirdspace Action Lab is hosting a variety of free events, which kick off on June 12. Check out their full schedule of events for Juneteenth.

Updated opportunities for expungement and record sealing for Ohioans
Ohio’s new law expanding opportunities for expungement and record sealing is now in effect. The Ohio Justice & Policy Center has developed a guide on record sealing for adults who may be affected by this change. Access the PDF guide here.

FREE Community Workshop "Is Starting a 501(c)3 Right for You? Pros, Cons, and Realities" - Tuesday, June 20 from 5:30-7:30 PM at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, sponsored by Greater Cleveland Interfaith Alliance. This free workshop will outline the steps required to start a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Registration is limited and required. To register, email ltighe@janussmallassociates.com by Monday, June 19, and provide email addresses and the organization being represented for all attendees.

Tri-C’s Women in Transition Program Offers In-Person and Online Summer Sessions
The Women in Transition program at Cuyahoga Community College is hosting summer sessions with online and in-person classes to empower women by building personalized academic and professional development plans. Sessions begin June 20, and registration is required by June 13. Visit Tri-C's website to learn more.
