This training will cover the statutes and resources relevant to dealing with housing conditions issues, how the rent escrow process works, and what can be done in a situation involving a lockout or utility shutoff. The CLE will discuss landlord and tenant obligations, the writing of demand letters, the filings involved in a rental escrow, the filings involved in a lockout or utility shutoff situation, and provide information about volunteering with Legal Aid’s Volunteer Lawyers Program.
