Cleveland, OH - The City of South Euclid and The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland will host a FREE LEGAL ADVICE CLINIC focused on FORECLOSURE ISSUES on Tuesday, May 22 from 4-6pm at the South Euclid Community Center (1370 Victory Drive, South Euclid).

Individuals who are facing foreclosure are encouraged to attend the clinic. Those who attend the clinic will be assisted by volunteer attorneys from the City of South Euclid and Legal Aid staff.

The foreclosure crisis persists nationwide and locally: between 2006 and 2011 there were 1,326 foreclosure filings for properties in South Euclid. There are over six hundred vacant homes in the South Euclid and 14.4% of the housing stock has been in foreclosure since 2006.

Ed Icove, an attorney and councilman from South Euclid, is recruiting volunteers for this event. Mr. Icove is a past president of Legal Aid. "The efforts of Mr. Icove and South Euclid leadership are impressive. At Legal Aid, we handle more than 1200 foreclosure matters annually. While Legal Aid has 51 staff attorneys, we need pro bono volunteers to help us meet the high demand for civil legal assistance," says Ann McGowan Porath, Managing Attorney for Legal Aid's Volunteer Lawyers Program, "People like Ed are invaluable to Legal Aid's mission."
