Legal Aid attorney weighs in on Pay to Stay

Elizabeth Zak, Senior Attorney at The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, was featured on News 5 Cleveland to discuss the impact of Pay to Stay in Cuyahoga County.

Tenants facing eviction for nonpayment of rent are given the chance to pay their rent and other fees before an eviction hearing.

“Pay to stay does not change the terms of the lease between the landlord and tenant,” said Zak. “Pay to stay helps both parties. The landlord walks away with their rent, late fees and court costs being paid by the tenant and the tenant gets to stay in their home.”
