Cleveland’s Right to Counsel: Impact Update
This CLE will cover the origins and specifics of the law establishing the right for a specified group of tenants to have counsel in eviction cases in Cleveland. The program will also cover the impact Right to Counsel has had since implementation, including data from 2024. The program will include statistics from recent study results, client stories, and perspectives from both an in-house Legal Aid attorney and a private contract attorney working within the program. It will also address who the right does not apply to and the opportunities and benefits that exist for volunteering with Legal Aid’s Volunteer Lawyers Program to assist those who are not included in the established law but still in need of assistance.
Speakers: Barb Reitzloff, Kelly Rochotte, and Bobbi Saltzman
