Tips for managing debt and avoiding bankruptcy. This brochure provides some advice on how to deal with debt, including seeking help from the Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS). It urges that you avoid payday loans, instant tax refunds, and “rent-to-own” products. These things will end up costing you much more money than they are really worth. Also included are tips on how to spot bad mortgage lenders and brokers. Advice is given on how to manage your debt if you do have to declare bankruptcy.
