Magnolia Clubhouse CLE - Best Practices for Serving Clients Living with Mental Illness

With the prevalence of mental illness being 1 in 5 adults in the United States, we can confidently say that all attorneys are engaging with client populations which include those living with mental illness.  While some situations are more severe or disabling than others, attorneys should be aware of best practices for serving this client population to ensure the best outcomes.

In this CLE, attorneys will have the opportunity to tour Magnolia Clubhouse, a community of growth, hope and opportunity.  Here, people living with mental illness become respected co-workers, neighbors, and friends.  Following the tour, attorneys will be invited to a CLE presentation regarding best practices for serving clients living with mental illness, and hear from a panel including a psychologist/the Executive Director of Magnolia Clubhouse, and a current member.  This group will answer questions regarding best practices for communicating with and supporting clients who live with mental illness as they navigate legal interactions.

Speakers include:

  • Jennifer Kinsley Smith - Supervising Attorney, The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland
  • Lori D’Angelo, PhD - Executive Director, Magnolia Clubhouse
  • Colleen Slattery - Magnolia Clubhouse Member

Eligible for 1.0 hours of CLE credit.

Presented by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
