As a young lawyer, I worked for a month for Legal Aid. It was a pretty intense month. Looking back I realized the clients helped me understand what it really meant to be a lawyer, to provide legal services, to understand and navigate the justice system and the law in very difficult areas. I realized what seems on its face as fairly simple is actually very complex. And I saw how much the clients appreciated the services that Legal Aid was providing.
Working with Legal Aid clients I think, "that could be me or a loved one. That could be a friend." To help them is really satisfying.
