Legal Aid is proud to have Medical Mutual of Ohio as a partner. Our collaboration helps extend justice in Northeast Ohio to families in need. Together, we foster fairness and eliminate many of the barriers that prevent families living in poverty from achieving financial stability and greater engagement in our community. Change is happening – and Medical Mutual's ongoing support directly impacts the clients we serve.
For 116 years, Legal Aid has provided life-changing civil legal services to low-income people who are struggling with fundamental issues affecting safety, health, housing, education, economic security, and domestic relations. Our clients and community members are facing heightened and more complex challenges because of the Coronavirus pandemic. As they struggle to keep their jobs, stay in their homes, and provide basic needs for their families, Legal Aid is working to protect their legal rights and open doors to opportunity.
In 2020, we helped 14,551 people in 6,037 legal cases. And thousands more were assisted through Legal Aid’s outreach, education, and broad-based advocacy. The resolution of clients’ legal cases can be life changing. Legal Aid can tip the scales between shelter and homelessness, safety and danger, and economic security and poverty.
Annually, Medical Mutual will support Legal Aid’s work by:
- Organizing a firm-wide campaign to raise awareness and support for Legal Aid’s services;
- Promoting opportunities offered by Legal Aid’s Volunteer Lawyers Program; and
- Participating in events like “Jam for Justice” and Legal Aid’s Annual Luncheon.
