As the only civil legal aid provider in our five-county service area, Legal Aid plays a vital role in improving safety, health, and economic security for Ohioans with low incomes. In 2024, we impacted 25,700 people and groups through 9,700 cases.

Did you know?

  • Nearly three out of every four U.S. households with low income experienced one or more civil legal problems in the past year.*
  • In Ohio, only 7% of legal needs are met for people with low incomes.**

Legal Aid ensures more people can use the law to protect their basic needs, helping ensure fairness for all in the justice system—regardless of how much money a person has. On any given day, Legal Aid's skilled attorneys and dedicated volunteers work to improve safety and health; promote economic security and education; secure stable and decent housing; and improve accessibility of justice systems and government entities.

We accomplish this work by:

  • Representing clients in court and administrative hearings;
  • Providing brief advice through one-on-one consultations or at neighborhood legal clinics;
  • Sharing legal education resources and know-your-rights presentations at community locations like public libraries and schools; and
  • Advocating for improved policies that affect low-income populations.
