Legal Aid hosts three types of events each year to help raise awareness for its work to ensure shelter, safety and economic security:

Jam for Justice:

Held each summer, this annual event has grown from a small fundraiser at the local pub… into a large event at the House of Blues Cleveland.  More than 800 people attend this annual concert that features local bands of attorneys-judges.  The festival atmosphere includes numerous sets of music and a reasonable ticket price to encourage new and experienced attorneys to support Legal Aid.  Additionally, many people who are not members of the legal community join the party to support a great cause.

Legal Aid’s Annual Meeting and Report to the Community:

Each fall, Legal Aid hosts a gathering – either a lunch or dinner – to provide a report to the community on the great work of the organization.  In recent years, the keynote speakers for this event have included then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (2005), US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor (2010), US Congressman John Lewis (GA) (2011), US Attorney General Eric Holder (2012), US Senator Rob Portman (OH) (2013), US Secretary of Labor Tom Perez (2014) and US Senator Sherrod Brown (2015).  Typically, 800-1000 people attend: local law firms and corporations host tables and numerous individuals purchase tickets.

House Parties:

On occasion, a donor family opens their home to Legal Aid, and hosts a party for an intimate group of people.  The purpose of the friendly gathering is to raise awareness of Legal Aid and support for its programs.  Often, these events provide an opportunity to introduce Legal Aid to a group of people who have not supported Legal Aid in the past.
