The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland is launching a new project engaging volunteer attorneys - Lawyers Advocating for Safe Housing (LASH). LASH will address rental housing issues that are impacting access to healthy and safe homes, including conditions, utility shutoffs and lockouts. LASH will leverage Legal Aid’s expertise in housing law and strong Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP) to address unmet needs in the community.
Legal Aid seeks an Attorney to serve as lead of this project. The Attorney will be responsible for project development and management of volunteer attorney recruitment, training, and recognition. The attorney will provide substantive support for the volunteer attorneys who may be new to housing law. The Attorney will work closely with other staff members of the VLP as well as experienced attorneys in Legal Aid’s Housing Group. The project begins October 1. LASH is supported by a Pro Bono Innovation Fund grant from the Legal Services Corporation.
