We provided this update on local events, community updates, and other newsworthy items to our partners and public officials.

If you are on-staff at a local organization or government agency, please email us with a request to join the mailing list. Include your name, title, organization and email in the note. You will then begin receiving Legal Aid's bi-weekly updates.

Hello from Legal Aid! As the end of the year approaches, we reflect on where we’ve been and we look forward to continuing our efforts in the new year ahead.

2022 Accomplishments
The Legal Aid team is on track to help nearly 22,000 people by the end of this year through legal cases alone. Thousands more have received assistance through our community legal education and advocacy work. Thank you for your partnership – for spreading the word, sending referrals, and helping us Extend Justice across Northeast Ohio. Click here for a quick video highlighting our work this year.

Student Loan Cancellation Update
Two federal courts have blocked the Department of Education from discharging debts under its Student Loan Cancellation program. For now, the Department of Education is no longer accepting cancellation applications. The Department of Education is seeking to overturn these Court decisions. Given these legal challenges, the student loan repayment pause has been extended. Repayment will NOT be restarting on January 1, 2023. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on our website as they are available - lasclev.org/StudentLoanFAQ.
