Join Legal Aid expert attoreys and colleagues from NAMI Greater Cleveland for a free CLE focused on serving clients wiht Mental Health Challenges.
This 2.5 hour virtual CLE will review best practices and key areas of Ohio law. All attorneys are welcome to join!
NAMI Greater Cleveland Program Director Megan Rochford, PCC-S will offer foundational information about mental illness, including common diagnoses and symptoms, how stigma interferes with recovery and engaging in treatment, and provide strategies for attorneys to respond sensitively and intentionally during interactions with clients who are living with mental illness.
Cleveland Rape Crisis Center Eastern Regional Manager, Hester Rathbone, PCC-S will share how a history of trauma affects interactions with clients, principles of trauma-informed care and how attorneys might care for and protect themselves from vicarious trauma related to their work.
Finally, two individuals from NAMI Greater Cleveland’s Speakers Bureau, including a person living with mental illness and a family member, will speak about their lived experience.
