Meet & Greet Events – Join us Thursdays in June
Throughout June 2023, Legal Aid will host a series of Meet & Greet Events across our service area. These community receptions are a chance to reconnect with our local partners and we’d love to see you there! Events will be held on June 1 in Ashtabula County, June 8 in Geauga County, June 15 in Lorain County, and June 22 in Lake County. For more information and to RSVP: lasclev.org/2023MeetAndGreet

Presentations & Resource Fair Participation – Invite Legal Aid!
Legal Aid provides trainings to providers and Know Your Rights presentations to community groups on a variety of topics. If you are interested in hosting a group presentation, please send requests to outreach@lasclev.org.

If you’re hosting a Resource Fair or outreach event to share information with people who have low income and may need legal assistance, please consider inviting Legal Aid to attend. Send an email to outreach@lasclev.org with details about your event (date, time, location, audience, etc.). We’ll do our best to attend, or we can send brochures and materials to distribute. For presentations and outreach events, please provide as much advance notice as possible.

Tax Foreclosure and Housing Resource Event – May 16
On Tuesday, May 16 from 3:30 – 6:30 PM, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court will host a FREE Tax Foreclosure and Housing Resource Event at Garfield Heights Civic Center. Information will be available for those needing help resolving their tax foreclosure delinquency – including community resources, assistance programs, and advice. Visit the court’s website for more info.

Family Café Advocating & Navigating Special Education in Cleveland – May 17
On Wednesday, May 17 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM, the Cleveland Transformation Alliance will host a virtual panel discussion to empower families to learn, understand and navigate Special Education services and programs in Cleveland. Legal Aid Attorney Danielle Gadomski Littleton will participate as a panelist. Register for this FREE event at mycleschool.org/events.

Updated opportunities for expungement and record sealing for Ohioans
Ohio’s new law expanding opportunities for expungement and record sealing is now in effect. The Ohio Justice & Policy Center has developed a guide on record sealing for adults who may be affected by this change. Access the PDF guide here. Legal Aid can help eligible applicants apply to seal or expunge their records.

Fair Housing for those with a criminal record
The Fair Housing Center has launched a new digital toolkit on Fair Housing for People with Criminal Record. Access the digital toolkit here.

SCORE Cleveland offers mentors
Small business owners, or aspiring owners, are encouraged to seek help from SCORE mentors. The volunteer mentors are local experts that are ready to help entrepreneurs in Northeast Ohio build their businesses to their fullest potential. Visit their website to learn more and request a mentor.
