Tomorrow - Tuesday, March 29, 2022 - Legal Aid client Robyn M. King will testify before the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

Ms. King is a former second grade teacher’s assistant who now works part-time and volunteers when she’s not caring for her family. She will travel to Washington DC with Legal Aid representatives for the hearing.

As Ms. King's mother aged and could no longer live at home without assistance, Ms. King took on primary responsibility for arranging her care until her mother died in October 2020. After her mother’s nursing home sued Ms. King for medical debt that had accrued due to its own administrative failures, Ms. King came to Legal Aid for help.  Legal Aid attorneys were able to help Ms. King avoid paying the debt that was not hers, but the toll on Ms. King and her family was considerable.

At the United States Senate hearing, Ms. King will use her voice to shed light on the terrible toll medical debt is taking on average Americans.
