How to Deal with Debt Collectors

This brochure outlines ways you can effectively deal with debt collectors and includes information on your rights under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as well as steps to take after a debt collector has contacted you. The brochure tells you what debt collectors cannot do, including harass you, make false statements, or trick you into accepting their phone calls. Also included are sample letters on how to stop contact from a collector and how to ask for verification of your debt.
