Access to Education

Every child deserves an education.

Success in school is a crucial building block to success in life.  Legal Aid works to remove barriers that keep children and families from enrolling and excelling in school through its traditional education law work.  Staff and volunteers protect the rights of students with disabilities, prevent expulsions for students with behavior problems.

Beyond the traditional education law work, Legal Aid does other work to help children and families remain stable so kids can stay in school and thrive.  For instance, Legal Aid ensures stable housing to support consistent attendance, and preserve public benefits to provide the necessary resources to help families thrive.  Legal Aid is an important partner with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District's Say Yes to Education effort, and works in collaboration with numerous other school leaders in Northeast Ohio to help families thrive.
