About Philanthropy at Legal Aid

For the poor, access to legal services can mean the difference between homelessness and housing, poverty and financial security, a life of fear and safety from a domestic abuser. Legal Aid provides legal services through individual representation, advice, and community education.

Legal Aid’s 55 staff attorneys and 1,400 volunteer attorneys handle more than 11,000 cases in a given year. Still, Legal Aid must turn away more than half the people who seek our help.

Legal Aid is funded by the Legal Services Corporation, the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation, Area Agencies on Aging, special and local state grants, United Way, law firms, private and corporate foundations and individual donors.

Legal Aid is a 501(c)3 organization; all donations are tax-deductible.
